North Vancouver is one of the most geographically distinct moving markets in Metro Vancouver. Waterfront to treeline in a few kilometres
Almost every other municipality we serve is predominantly one kind of place. North Vancouver compresses two into a small footprint: a dense, walkable waterfront district around Lower Lonsdale and the Shipyards, and a long residential slope above it that gets steeper, quieter and more wooded the further up you go. Quoting well here is mostly a matter of establishing which half you are in, because the constraints do not overlap at all — one is elevator bookings and loading bays, the other is driveway gradient and how far the truck can safely get.
Lower Lonsdale: a proper urban district on the North Shore
The waterfront around Lonsdale Quay and the Shipyards is the densest housing north of the inlet, and it behaves like a downtown rather than a suburb. Elevator bookings are required and limited, loading happens in a designated bay rather than at the curb, and most buildings want proof of insurance before releasing the elevator. It is straightforward work as long as the arrangements exist before the truck arrives, which is the whole reason we ask for the building name at booking rather than just the street address.
The slope: driveways, gradient and multi-level homes
Above the highway the ground rises steadily and the housing follows it. Homes through Delbrook, Canyon Heights, Blueridge and the upper Lynn Valley streets are commonly built into their lots on three levels, with driveways pitched sharply from the road and, on some properties, a turning area that is comfortable for a car and marginal for a loaded truck. Where the gradient or the turnaround is genuinely unsafe we park at the road and carry, which is a decision far better made when quoting than on the slope with a full truck. Winter adds the obvious: the upper streets can be holding conditions the waterfront never sees.
Deep Cove and the narrow eastern roads
Out toward Deep Cove and the Seymour side the roads narrow, wind and in places offer very little room for a full-size truck to turn or pass. The village itself is compact and popular, and on summer weekends the visitor traffic on the approach roads is a real scheduling factor rather than a nuisance. We look at the approach before assigning a vehicle and book these jobs early in the day, which removes most of the difficulty before it starts.
How Long a North Vancouver Move Takes

Yes. Deep Cove and upper Lynn Valley are regular destinations for us. The access roads narrow considerably as you go, with sections where two vehicles pass carefully and turning room for a full-size truck is limited, so we look at the approach before deciding what to send. Deep Cove in particular draws heavy visitor traffic on weekends and through the summer, which affects the approach roads more than the distance suggests — we schedule those jobs for a morning start.
Do you move Lower Lonsdale and Shipyards-area buildings?
Regularly — it is the densest part of the North Shore and a large share of our work here. These are mid- and high-rise buildings with the usual apparatus: a booked elevator, a designated loading zone rather than curbside parking, and in most cases a Certificate of Insurance naming the strata before the elevator key appears. Do you provide packing services in North Vancouver?
Yes. Packing is offered full or partial, with boxes, bubble wrap and mattress bags supplied. It is done by the same crew on the same clock at the same hourly rate rather than billed as its own line. Because a packed job takes longer we quote it from a higher total-hours figure upfront with no separate materials fee. Blankets, straps and dollies are included, and boxes and wrap are quoted after we have seen what there is rather than charged at a fixed rate. Worth pricing both ways on a multi-level slope house, where the packing time and the carry time compound.
How far in advance should I book a North Vancouver move?
Two to three weeks for a standard move, four to six for month-end and for June 30 and September 30. The Lower Lonsdale buildings are the constraint to plan around — elevator slots are limited and at month-end the building decides your date rather than we do.
