How Our Local Moving Process Works
Every local move starts with a free quote. Tell us your home size, pickup and drop-off addresses, and preferred date — and we will confirm your crew and arrival window within one hour. Every quote includes a standardized travel charge (30–60 min at your hourly rate, based on your location), disclosed as its own line item upfront so there are no surprises.
On move day, our crew arrives in uniform with a fully equipped truck — moving blankets, straps, dollies, and floor runners included at no extra charge. We disassemble and reassemble standard furniture as part of the service. Once the truck is loaded, we drive directly to your destination and unload everything into the right rooms.
You pay by the hour for the actual time worked, rounded to the nearest 15 minutes. The minimum booking is two hours. We accept cash, credit, and e-transfer.
What's Included in Every Local Move
Areas We Serve Across Metro Vancouver
BOSS Moving operates across all of Metro Vancouver. Whether you are moving within the same neighbourhood or across the region, we cover it. Our most common local move corridors include Vancouver to Burnaby, Richmond to Vancouver, Surrey to Coquitlam, and North Vancouver to Vancouver — but we go anywhere in the Lower Mainland.
Moving within the City of Vancouver itself? Our Vancouver movers page covers the neighbourhood-by-neighbourhood detail — tower elevator bookings, character-home stairwells, and the City of Vancouver street-use permits the surrounding municipalities do not require.
Frequently Asked Questions About Local Moving in Vancouver
How long does a typical local move take?
A 1-bedroom apartment typically takes 3.5–4.5 hours with 2 movers. A 2-bedroom takes 5–6 hours, and a 3-bedroom house takes 6–7 hours. Ranges cover both elevator and stair-carry buildings — we do not charge a stair fee or an elevator surcharge.
Do I need to be present during the move?
Yes — someone 18 or older must be present at both the pickup and drop-off addresses to direct the crew and sign off on the job. If you need to step out briefly, let us know in advance.
What happens if the move takes longer than estimated?
You pay for actual time worked. We will never rush the job to hit an estimate. If a move runs long due to unexpected complications, we will communicate with you before continuing.
Can you move heavy items like gym equipment or a piano?
We handle most oversized items including treadmills, weight benches, and pool tables. For pianos, see our dedicated piano moving page for details on how we handle uprights, baby grands, and grand pianos.
What if something gets damaged?
BOSS Moving carries $2M general liability insurance and we are fully WorkSafeBC compliant. In the unlikely event of damage, we handle claims directly — no third parties, no runaround.
