Terms of Service

The terms that apply when you book a move with Boss Moving.

Last updated: January 2025

1. Agreement to Terms

By booking a move, submitting a quote request, or using the services of BOSS Moving ("Company", "we", "us", "our"), you ("Customer", "you") agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully before confirming any booking.

BOSS Moving reserves the right to update these terms at any time. Continued use of our services after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.

2. Services

BOSS Moving provides residential and commercial moving services in Metro Vancouver and select long-distance destinations within British Columbia and Alberta. Services include but are not limited to:

  • Local residential moving
  • Long distance moving
  • Commercial and office relocation
  • Packing and unpacking services
  • Furniture assembly and disassembly
  • Specialty item moving (pianos, safes, antiques)

Service availability is subject to scheduling and geographic limitations. BOSS Moving reserves the right to decline any job at its discretion.

3. Quotes and Pricing

All rates are quoted in Canadian dollars (CAD) and are subject to 5% GST. Quotes provided via our website or phone are estimates based on the information you provide. Final pricing may vary based on actual move time, distance, weight, access conditions, or additional services requested.

  • Minimum booking: 2 hours for all local moves.
  • Hourly billing: Time begins when the crew departs from our location and ends upon return. Travel time to and from the job site is billed at the standard hourly rate.
  • Long distance moves: Priced as flat-rate based on destination and inventory. Any scope changes after confirmation may result in adjusted pricing.
  • No hidden fees: We do not charge fuel surcharges, stair fees, elevator fees or mileage fees. Not on any move, and not with advance notice either — stairs make a job take longer and that time bills at the ordinary hourly rate, which is the whole of it.

4. Booking and Confirmation

A booking is confirmed with a $100 deposit. The deposit is applied to your final invoice — it prepays $100 of what you owe, not an extra charge — and it is fully refundable if you cancel 3 or more days before your move. If you cancel with less than 3 days notice, the deposit is non-refundable, as it covers the crew time reserved for you. A booking deposit is not a hidden fee: it is disclosed here, applied to your bill, and refundable with notice.

We will send a confirmation with your move date, time, crew size, and estimated cost. We recommend confirming your booking in writing via email.

BOSS Moving will make every effort to arrive within the agreed time window. Delays due to traffic, weather, or prior job overruns will be communicated to you as soon as possible.

5. Cancellations and Rescheduling

  • 3 days notice or more: No cancellation fee, and your $100 booking deposit is refunded in full. 7 days is preferred so the slot can be re-booked.
  • Less than 3 days notice: Still no cancellation fee. The booking deposit is non-refundable at this notice, as it covers the crew time reserved for you. Call us as early as you can — late notice is hard to re-book.
  • No-show: If the crew arrives at the scheduled time and cannot begin work, the 2-hour minimum applies. This covers a dispatched crew, and is not a cancellation fee.

Rescheduling is available at no charge, and your deposit carries over to the new date. Give us as much notice as you can — at least 3days where possible — and it is subject to availability.

6. Customer Responsibilities

To ensure a smooth and safe move, the Customer agrees to:

  • Ensure all items are ready to be moved at the agreed start time (unless packing services are booked)
  • Disclose any items requiring special handling (pianos, antiques, fragile items, hazardous materials) in advance
  • Ensure adequate parking and access for the moving truck at both origin and destination
  • Secure or remove any fragile items from furniture drawers prior to the move
  • Be present or have an authorized representative present throughout the move
  • Ensure elevators are reserved and building move-in/move-out policies are met

7. Items We Cannot Move

For safety and legal reasons, BOSS Moving will not transport the following:

  • Hazardous materials including propane tanks, gasoline, paints, and chemicals
  • Live plants across provincial borders
  • Perishable food items
  • Firearms and ammunition
  • Cash, jewelry, and other high-value personal items (Customer is responsible for transporting these personally)
  • Illegal substances or items

8. Liability and Claims

BOSS Moving carries $2M general liability insurance and is fully WorkSafeBC compliant. We take exceptional care with all items; however, the following limitations apply:

  • Pre-existing damage: BOSS Moving is not liable for damage to items that were already damaged, poorly assembled, or structurally compromised prior to the move.
  • Packed boxes: BOSS Moving is not liable for damage to contents inside boxes packed by the Customer unless our crew packed those boxes.
  • Claim timeline: Any damage claims must be reported to us within 48 hours of move completion. Claims submitted after this period may not be honoured.
  • High-value items: Customers with items of exceptional value (artwork, antiques, collectibles) should disclose these in advance and consider purchasing additional insurance coverage.

BOSS Moving's total liability for any claim shall not exceed the total amount paid by the Customer for the move in question.

9. Payment

The $100 booking deposit (Section 4) is deducted from the final invoice. The balance is due upon completion of the move unless otherwise agreed in writing. We accept cash, e-Transfer, and major credit cards. A receipt will be issued upon payment.

BOSS Moving reserves the right to pursue outstanding balances through legal or collection means.

10. Disputes

We are committed to resolving any concerns promptly and fairly. If you have a complaint, please contact us at teambossmoving@gmail.com or call (604) 726-9828 within 48 hours of your move.

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia. Any disputes that cannot be resolved informally shall be submitted to the courts of British Columbia.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, BOSS Moving shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from the use of our services, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

12. Changes to Terms

BOSS Moving reserves the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. Updated terms will be posted on this page with a revised date. Your continued use of our services after any modifications constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
